2024 Ford MustangEngine & Performance

The heart and soul of the 2024 Ford Mustang is its engine; and you get three different powertrains to choose from with a range of power outputs available.

In the EcoBoost® and EcoBoost Premium trims, you’ll find a 2.4L EcoBoost inline four-cylinder (I4) engine paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The GT and GT Premium trims come equipped with a fourth-generation 5.0L Coyote™ V8 engine with two different power levels — you get a set of higher numbers with the available active exhaust system. At the top of the Mustang lineup, the new Dark Horse™ and Dark Horse Premium feature an enhanced version of the fourth-generation Coyote engine that’s tuned to make a whopping 500 horsepower. GT and GT Premium models offer a six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic transmission, while the Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium pair their upgraded engine with a TREMEC® six-speed manual transmission or ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard across the model lineup.

Six selectable drive modes — normal, sport, slippery, track, drag strip, and custom MyMode — allow you to customize the performance settings in your Mustang. You can also customize the steering feel, with settings optimized for normal, comfort, and sport steering. If you’re looking to whip your Mustang around on the track, consider the available and first-in-its-class drift brake.

2024 Ford MustangSafety & Technology Options

The centerpiece of the 2024 Mustang cabin is the massive screens — a 13.2-inch center touchscreen and 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster — that come as standard equipment and are transformed into a curved, magnesium-framed display in select trim packages. Running the SYNC® 4 infotainment system, your center touchscreen provides an intuitive home for all your entertainment selections, navigation needs, and communication tasks with wireless smartphone connectivity. Standard Track Apps® help you view key performance details, and you can enjoy three-dimensional graphics courtesy of the Unreal® gaming engine used in the system.
